Earlier this week, I got a very special surprise when I saw that one of my favorite crossword content creators solved my A Slight Alteration puzzle on her YouTube channel! I've been following Katie G (@coffeeandcrosswords) on Twitch and TikTok for years at this point. Early last year, Katie started on a journey to get a 365 day NYT streak. She documented this journey on TikTok with daily videos of her unedited solving process (even some particularly tricky Saturdays and Sundays that took over an hour and required multiple parts on TikTok). It became part of my routine to watch her solve every day after I completed mine.
She's moved away from TikTok for the daily solves but has taken up posting longer-form crossword content on her YouTube channel. While it's always an absolute joy to watch Katie solve, her "aha moment" is one of the proudest moments of my crosswording career. It's scary to put your work out in the world, but these kinds of reactions make it worth that risk.
